Final Design
A Little About Process :
How We Got To Final Design
As the only 'web-designer' on a team of twelve 3rd Year Emily Carr students, I found myself face-to-face with the task of translating a print publication into an online format. Working alongside the print production team, I created an online design format to complement the design being prepared for print.
Our team set a goal of developing a brand that could remain consistent for the publication as it changed hands from year to year. We wanted to generate a brand that future teams would be excited to adopt. The design I created for the website was deliberately developed to be consistent with the brand developed for print.

Building Into The Life Already There
We wanted to take a new look at the manner in which we featured time-based media in a print publication. Traditionally, a still from the piece would be printed with the source underneath. We decided to go a few steps further and apply QR Codes to all of the time-based media for print. We even had one in the opening spread so people could snap and surf onto the website.
Getting WOO! Socially Networked
Ultimately, our team's desire was to serve the student community with the WOO!. We wanted the publication to be a platform for people to get their work out to as broad an audience as possible and I wanted the website to reach the audience that wouldn't receive a printed issue. To make this possible, I added social networking functions to each page of the online publication so that people could 'like', 'tweet', embed any content, or add something to their delicious account.
