The Core of the Lyrics
Musical artist Michael LaRoy came to me with a need for artwork and a design for the packaging of his EP. After listening to his song, I was struck with the clarity of the melodies. The recording was bright. His lyrics spoke of a loving relationship falling apart, the acceptance of such a loss, and finding hope for the future again.

A Little About Process : Ideal Print Meeting Realistic Demands
After pushing the muted tones and low contrast ethereal aesthetic of the previous iteration, I was notified by the printer that these concepts wouldn't translate into a legible print. We darkened the final and changed the typeface to account for the affordance one gets passing by the record on a shelf.

Floating Ideations
I was working with paper for another project but I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. I set an abstracted scene of city. Having written the record with a view of Vancouver's skyline, LaRoy loved the concept.
